Sports accidents are on the increase. As many as 35 % of all children and young people suffer tooth accidents to their permanent dentition. Every second person is affected up to the age of 50.

Trend sports as well as classical team sports represent a high level of risk of injury to the teeth. Even the loss of a single tooth can cause costs of up to 30,000 euro in the course of a lifetime.

Today, dental protection is more important than ever. In basketball, hockey, boxing or handball: in professional sport it is sometimes mandatory to wear a mouthguard. This is seldom referred to in amateur sport.
